If future astronauts standing on Mars were to look at the Earth, they would see a bright, blue planet. It would appear alternately in the morning and evenings, as Venus does from Earth, and would have the same phases as Venus.
Transits of Earth Across the Sun
The next transit of Earth across the Sun, as seen from Mars, will take place on November 10, 2084. During these transits, the Earth passes directly between Mars and the Sun. From Mars, the Earth would appear to be a small dark spot on the Sun. |
